Sahmel Continues His Run The Texas Putting ventured north of the Red River for a combined Texas/Oklahoma weekend at the tough Lawton, OK Putt-Putt. Wade Sahmel and Joel Woodall would share the opening round lead at six under 30 with five other players all sitting one stoke back. Sahmel would be the first player in the Pro division to break 30. A second round 28 would be the only second round score under 30 and would give him a three stroke lead over Woodall and Gary Reed going to the last round. A solid last round of seven under 29 would provide a final total of 21 under 87, a four stroke margin and his fourth win in a row. The three available state spots went to Jody Kimble, Joel Woodall and Steve Armstrong. One available Oklahoma sate spot went to Jeffrey Smith. VanBuskirk Still on a Roll Jason VanBuskirk of Midwest City, OK continued his early season dominance of the Oklahoma courses, taking a three stroke victory over David Chisum. With temperatures in the high 80s and very little wind, it was a nearly perfect day for putting. VanBuskirk and Chisum were tied at 7 under par after the opening round, well ahead of the rest of the field. VanBuskirk picked up a stroke advantage in the second round, shooting 8 under par to Chisum's 7 under par. VanBuskirk stayed focused in the final round, shooting 5 under par to take his fourth win of the 2006 season. Chisum ended at 91 alone in second place. Tied third was Danny Hoel and Trevor Lewin. Texas State Championship qualification spots went to Jason VanBuskirk, Greg Cole and Danny Hoel. One Oklahoma State Championship qualification spot went to David Chisum. Story by Greg Cole
